One of the biggest mistakes religion has made is to associate fear with God. Religion has taught us that if we don’t live a certain way or follow the rules of a particular denomination, God will punish us in some way. Fear of His wrath is traditionally what the church has used to lead people to God (or at least to church on Sundays). I believe that fear is what keeps people from developing an authentic relationship with Him. I love God because I recognize how He works in my life. I don’t need to fear Him in order to be a servant to Him and humanity. I do what I do and am all that I am because I recognize and am grateful for the love He has shown me. I believe that God is love, pure and simple.
